Roasting vegetables is one of my favorite way to enjoy vegetables, because it's mostly hands off and the flavor is simply unmatched! This roasted asparagus recipe is quick and easy, leaves you with tender perfectly cooked asparagus, and only takes 15 minutes from start to finish. You can cook it on it's own or add a protein beside it for the perfect sheet pan meal!

Since asparagus is so easy to prepare, I now include it with our weekly family meals to get those green vegetables in! It's perfect during the spring and summer months when asparagus is in season, but can usually be found all year long. I also love making sautéed asparagus which doesn't require heating up the oven. Asparagus is really the perfect vegetable for any meal!
How To Roast Asparagus
I keep things simple in this recipe with just a little olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. Here’s a step-by-step overview, but the full measurements are listed in the recipe card below:

Rinse and dry: Start by giving the asparagus a quick rinse under cool water and dry them really well.

Trim: Place the asparagus on a cutting board and trim off the thick woody stem at the end of the asparagus spears.

Season: Add the asparagus to a large sheet pan. Drizzle with olive oil then add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and minced garlic. Toss together with your hands or tongs until all the asparagus is coated with the oil and seasoning.

Bake: Bake the asparagus until perfectly roasted and fork tender. The time will vary slightly depending on the thickness of your asparagus spears.
Extra Tip!
Feel free to add some fresh grated parmesan, a squeeze of lemon juice, or a little lemon zest for an extra pop of flavor! Or you can switch things up by using lemon pepper seasoning like I did with this this Air Fryer Asparagus if you want a slightly different and bolder flavor!
Serving Suggestions
Most of the time I serve roasted asparagus with lean protein like sautéed chicken breasts or baked chicken breasts. But I also love to have it with baked fish or tossed in pasta like this chicken asparagus pasta recipe. And it's perfect to add to a vegetable frittata or breakfast omelet.
