This Baked Chicken Breast recipe is juicy, tender and so simple to make. It only requires a few spices and just a little time in the oven and before you know it you have quick & easy baked chicken that tastes amazing and goes perfectly with any side dish.

SHOULD I CUT THE CHICKEN BREASTS IN HALF

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are usually very thick and from experience they cook a lot more evenly when you cut the breasts in half lengthwise or pound them with a meat pounder ahead of time. However you certainly don't have to cut the chicken breasts in half before you cook them, but I definitely recommend pounding the thicker parts of the breast with a meat pounder or heavy object to even out the thickness of the breast. If you skip this step then you risk your chicken cooking too quickly on the thinner end of the breast before it is fully cooked on the thicker side of the chicken breast.

    LET’S TALK SEASONING!

The seasoning I use for this recipe is a fairly common list of herbs and spices that you probably already have in your pantry. But the combination of them gives this chicken an amazing flavor! These 6 spices mixed together and rubbed into each chicken breast takes this chicken to a whole new level. I've listed them down below along with the specific measurements in the recipe card.

    HOW TO SEASON YOUR CHICKEN

Oftentimes we tend to just sprinkle salt, pepper and a few other spices onto the top and bottom of the chicken breast. For this recipe I recommend mixing all of your spices into one small bowl, coating the chicken breasts with just a little bit of olive oil and generously rubbing the seasoning mix into the meat with your hands. This way each chicken breast gets thoroughly coated with all of those spices which results in amazing flavor!

HOW TO MAKE BAKED BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST

Full instructions are included in the recipe below, but here’s a quick overview:

Step One: Place your boneless skinless chicken breast in a large bowl or on a plastic cutting board.

Step Two: If you have large thick chicken breasts you can cut them in half or pound them with a meat pounder or rolling pin to even out the thickness.

Step Three: Drizzle the chicken breasts with just a little olive oil then rub your seasoning into each chicken breast with your hands until each one is nicely coated. Of course be sure to wash those hands thoroughly afterwards.

Step Four: Place seasoned chicken breast on a parchment or aluminum foil lined baking sheet and back in the oven until internal temp reaches 165 degrees.

HOW TO KNOW WHEN YOUR CHICKEN BREASTS ARE DONE

The only safe way to know when your chicken breasts are done is to use a meat thermometer. Your chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of your chicken breast. Digital meat thermometers are inexpensive and simple to use. This is the digital thermometer that I use

    Description

Easy Baked Chicken Breast with a delicious seasoning mix!

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 1.5 - 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast
    • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 2 teaspoons onion powder
    • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
    2. Place boneless skinless chicken breast in a large bowl or plastic cutting board. If chicken breast is really thick, cut breasts in half lengthwise or pound them with a meat pounder or rolling pin to even out the thickness.
    3. Combine garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
    4. Divide and rub olive oil onto each chicken breast. Rub seasoning mixture into each chicken breast until thoroughly coated.
    5. Place seasoned chicken on a parchment or foil lined baking sheet and bake in the oven. If your chicken breasts are whole, then bake for 20 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.  If you cut your chicken breasts in half, bake for 15-17 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
    6. Once done remove chicken from the oven and allow chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
