I’m honestly too big of a Mexican food lover to not have shared this recipe sooner. This creamy Cilantro Lime Crema can be drizzled over almost anything. It’s perfect on tacos, nachos, fajitas and quesadillas. But it’s also great on taco salads, soups, or even as a dip! It’s cool, refreshing, creamy, and one of my favorite condiments. You’ll definitely want to save this recipe because it’s just too easy not to keep in your back pocket!

What Is Crema?
Crema is a popular Mexican condiment that is similar to sour cream, but is slightly thinner and more pourable than sour cream. It’s often flavored with fresh lime juice for extra flavor and tanginess, but I also love adding fresh cilantro to mine. Traditional Mexican crema is usually made with heavy cream and buttermilk, but the American version is often made with sour cream and sometimes mayonnaise as the base.
Ingredients
You’ll only need 5 simple ingredients for this lime crema recipe: sour cream, fresh cilantro, fresh garlic, a lime, and a little salt. You can substitute the sour cream for greek yogurt (whole milk), but everything else is pretty essential for the best flavor!

How To Make Cilantro Lime Crema
There are just two simple steps to make this easy homemade crema sauce:
Step One: Add your prepped ingredients to a food processor or small blender and pulse or blend until smooth. Scrape down the sides of the food processor as needed and repeat until you reach your desired consistency.
Step Two: Use immediately and store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

How To Use Lime Crema?
This sauce is perfect to use on any of your favorite Mexican dishes. I love adding it on my tacos and nachos, but here are some other great recipes to use it on:

Cilantro Lime Crema
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1 small garlic clove
- 1 lime, zested & juiced
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
Instructions
- Separate the stems from the cilantro leaves, give the garlic a rough chop, and zest and juice the lime. You should get roughly 2 tablespoon of lime juice.
- Add the sour cream, cilantro leaves, garlic, lime zest, lime juice, and salt to a food processor or small blender.
- Blend until smooth and all of the ingredients are well combined. I love the consistency of this recipe, but if you want a thinner sauce add a little more lime juice or a splash of water and continue to blend to reach your desired consistency.
