Friends, I’ve been making my own homemade chili seasoning for years. It’s just so easy and has way more flavor than store-bought seasoning. And because the price of seasoning mixes have gone up by quite a bit, it’s also a whole lot cheaper to make your own batch at home. This recipe is made with simple spices that you probably already have in your pantry. Plus no extra additives or preservatives! And the best part is that it works with so many different kinds of chili!🙌

Ingredients For Homemade Chili Seasoning

Here are the 7 spices that you need to make the most flavorful chili seasoning mix:

  • Chili Powder
  • Cumin
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Dried Oregano
  • Garlic Powder
  • Fine Sea Salt
  • Ground Black Pepper

Storing

This chili seasoning recipe is for one batch, but I would suggest doubling or even tripling the recipe so you can have extra when you need it. You can store any leftover seasoning in an airtight container in a cool, dry area and it should last 6-8 months. I like using small mason jars to store my seasoning mixes in.

How Much Seasoning Should You Use?

For 1 lb. of ground meat you will need approximately 3 tablespoons of chili seasoning. This recipe makes about 3 ½ tablespoons of seasoning which adds extra flavor to the beans, tomatoes, and other ingredients in chili. Of course you can use a little more or less depending on your spice preference. That's what makes it so convenient! You can use this recipe for chicken chili, beef chili or my favorite Ground Turkey Chili recipe!

I didn't know you can put those extra ingredients in chili like oregano an cumin, because I use different seasonings but it did add a kick to the chili

Pretty good. Was hoping to create an exact copy of McCormicks mild chili seasoning in the envelope. This
isnt it, but will work. Plus I read somewhere that a small amount of apple cider vinegar mixed in with the chili itself at the time of serving gives it a real zing and I tried it..
    Yes it does.
