Ingredients

  • 1 lb. asparagus (1 bunch)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • ½ fresh lemon
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated parmesan (optional)

Instructions

  • Rinse, dry, and place the asparagus on a cutting board. Trim off the thick woody stem at the end of the asparagus spears. Then cut the asparagus into thirds.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil and butter. Once the butter has melted add the asparagus.
  • Toss the asparagus in the oil and butter and sauté for 4 minutes stirring occasionally. The asparagus will start to turn a bright green color.
  • After 4 minutes add the salt, black pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for another 2 minutes stirring occasionally until the asparagus is tender.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice over the top. You can also add some fresh grated parmesan cheese (optional) for a more savory flavor.
