Creamy Banana Nut Oatmeal

steel cut oats
1
cup
water
1
cup
almond milk
⅛
teaspoon
salt
½
tablespoon
maple syrup or brown sugar
½
banana, mashed
Banana Topping
Banana slices
Chopped pecans or walnuts
A little drizzle of maple syrup
Instructions
Heat a small saucepan on medium heat and add steel cut oats water, almond milk and a pinch of salt. Stir and bring to a boil.
As soon as oatmeal comes to a boil, turn heat down to medium-low and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
Once oatmeal is almost ready (around 18 minutes) add a little brown sugar or maple syrup to sweeten and mashed banana. Stir well.
Transfer cooked oatmeal to a bowl and top with sliced banana, nuts and maple syrup. Enjoy!
Notes
If using rolled oats cook for 3-5 minutes
