Creamy Banana Nut Oatmeal

Ingredients
  

Oatmeal

  • ½ cup steel cut oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • teaspoon salt
  • ½ tablespoon maple syrup or brown sugar
  • ½ banana, mashed

Banana Topping

  • Banana slices
  • Chopped pecans or walnuts
  • A little drizzle of maple syrup

Instructions
 

  • Heat a small saucepan on medium heat and add steel cut oats water, almond milk and a pinch of salt. Stir and bring to a boil.
  • As soon as oatmeal comes to a boil, turn heat down to medium-low and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  • Once oatmeal is almost ready (around 18 minutes) add a little brown sugar or maple syrup to sweeten and mashed banana. Stir well. 
  • Transfer cooked oatmeal to a bowl and top with sliced banana, nuts and maple syrup. Enjoy!

Notes

If using rolled oats cook for 3-5 minutes
