A delicious Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie recipe that incorporates oats to help add extra vitamins and nutrients to your smoothie. The best part is this smoothie only requires 4 main ingredients! It tastes delicious and is also perfect for smoothie freezer prepping.

If you like simple ingredient smoothies, definitely check out this 4-ingredient Mango Smoothie and this Apple Strawberry Green Smoothie!

Strawberry Smoothie

Well if you didn't know already, smoothies are kind of “my thing!” I absolutely love smoothies and could drink them every day. Some of my favorites are this Blueberry Spinach Smoothie and this Strawberry Peach Smoothie! I often will make a smoothie prep freezer bag ahead of time with all the ingredients needed so it's easy to just pop them in my blender and go whenever I’m ready!

Can You Add Oats In A Smoothie?

Believe it or not oats are a great addition to add to smoothies! Not only do they help thicken the smoothie but they also have lots of health benefits and break down rather easily in a blender! They are a great source of protein, fiber and antioxidants just to name a few.

Just make sure when you are choosing your oats that you pick either old-fashioned rolled oats or quick oats. Steel cut oats are thicker and chewier and will not blend well in your smoothie.

Ingredients For Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie

The ingredients to make this delicious smoothie are pretty simple (full recipe listed below)

Frozen Strawberries -  I prefer frozen strawberries for this smoothie to help give it a thicker consistency. You can either buy a bag of frozen strawberries from your local grocery store or I often will buy fresh strawberries when they are in season and freeze them myself.

Banana - Again frozen bananas work best as it gives the smoothie a thick, creamy consistency. Just peel your banana ahead of time, cut it in half and lay it in a single layer on a plate. Freeze in your freezer for about 3 hours. Then transfer the frozen banana from the plate to a freezer safe bag or air-tight container.

Almond milk - Almond milk goes perfectly with this smoothie but feel free to use regular whole milk as well. I also prefer using the vanilla flavored almond milk in my smoothies.

Rolled oats - Stick with old-fashioned rolled oats or quick oats for this smoothie recipe.

Tips For Making A Great Smoothie

Use frozen fruit for your smoothies. Frozen fruit gives you the perfect smoothie texture without having to use ice. Ice can sometimes water down your smoothie. So whenever you have the opportunity, always opt for frozen fruit.

Add your liquid first. Always add your liquid first to the blender when making a smoothie. This not only protects the blades in your blender but it also helps the ingredients to blend easier.

Wash your fruit really well. If you are using fresh strawberries make sure to wash your fruit really well before adding to your blender or before freezing it.

Sweeteners. Try to stay away from adding regular sugar to your smoothie. Use natural sweeteners instead like honey, maple syrup or dates instead.

I really enjoyed this strawberry oatmeal smoothie. I added a little dollop of greek yogurt but kept everything else the same. Great texture and flavor! Perfect for busy mornings when I am trying to get my kids out the door and off to school.

I love adding oats to my smoothies to bulk them up and make them a complete meal, but oddly enough, I've never made one with strawberries. It was so tasty and a great way to start my day.

Just tried this today after doing a google search for Strawberry smoothie recipes. It came out amazing. I actually used an over-ripen banana and mixed in some strawberries (along with the regular frozen ones) that weren't fresh and going to spoil in a few days.

The oats were a perfect touch. This will be my go-to recipe when I want to take a break from green juices. Thanks!
