Ingredients Needed
Restaurant quality green beans with just 8 simple ingredients...yes, please! Here's everything that you'll need:
- Fresh Green Beans: I usually grab the pre-packaged bag of fresh green beans. Sometimes they come already trimmed and sometimes you may have to trim them yourself.
- Red Bell Pepper, Onion, and Garlic: The combination of peppers, onion and garlic builds a solid foundation of flavor for this dish!
- Chicken Broth: A good quality chicken broth like Better than Bouillon helps cook the green beans and gives them a “meaty” flavor without the meat.
- Soy Sauce: My secret ingredient! A little bit of soy sauce added towards the end of the cook time gives the green beans even more depth of flavor.
- Olive Oil and Butter: I love the combination and flavor of olive oil and butter when sautéing vegetables. I use this combo often especially when I make sautéed zucchini squash or sautéed cabbage.
- Salt and Pepper: Just a little bit of salt and pepper to finish seasoning the green beans.

How To Make Sautéed Green Beans
These tender & flavorful green beans are ready in just 30 minutes! The full measurements are listed in the recipe card below, but here’s a quick step-by-step overview:
Step One: Start by washing and trimming the green beans. I like to cut a tiny bit off on each end of the green beans. Next dice the red bell pepper and onion and mince the garlic.
Step Two: In a large skillet on medium heat add the olive oil and butter. Sauté the peppers, onions, and garlic for a few minutes. Then add in the green beans and sauté for 2 more minutes. The green beans will start to brighten in color.
Step Three: Add in the chicken broth and season the green beans with just a little salt and pepper. Stir, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, right before the green beans are fully done, add the soy sauce, stir and finish cooking for 5 more minutes or until most of the chicken broth has been absorbed and the green beans are tender to your liking.

Liking the sound of this and going to roll with it tonight except I'll be using red jalapeno (because I have them) instead of bell.
