I absolutely love recipes that only require a few ingredients and are super easy to make. This Sausage Balls recipe is a classic and one that I remember my mom making every year for Christmas. It only requires 3 simple ingredients and is perfect for breakfast, game day parties, or as a holiday appetizer. Now to keep up with the tradition, I make these every year around Christmas time and trust me…they’re always the first to go!😄

Bisquick Sausage Balls

Here are the 3 ingredients you need to make these easy sausage balls:

  • Ground Breakfast Sausage - You can use mild or hot pork sausage. Sometimes my mom makes half mild and half hot just to mix it up a little. I've only tested these with pork sausage, but feel free to try them with turkey or chicken sausage as well!
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese - I definitely recommend using sharp cheddar for better flavor versus mild cheddar. I also like grating my cheese from a block, but you can also use pre-shredded cheese.
  • Bisquick Baking Mix - Bisquick baking mix is the 3rd ingredient and it helps bind the sausage balls together. The Bisquick brand is what we've always used, but feel free to use a different brand or a homemade version.

Step Three: Pinch off bite-size pieces (about 1 tablespoon each) of the sausage mixture and roll into balls. Place the sausage balls on a parchment lined baking sheet spaced apart.

Step Four: Bake until fully cooked and golden brown. Then enjoy and watch as your family and friends make them disappear!

Storing & Reheating

You can easily store any leftover sausage balls in the fridge or freezer. Once they have cooled to room temperature, store in an airtight container for 3-5 days in the refrigerator or in a freezer-safe storage bag for up to 3 months in the freezer.

Can I freeze and reheat these easily?

Yes! To freeze any leftover spinach balls first place them on a parchment lined plate and freeze them separated for 2-3 hours. Once they are all frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for 2-3 months. This ensures the spinach balls don't stick together when frozen. To reheat just place the frozen balls on a baking sheet and reheat in a 350°F oven until heated through!
