When you want something quick to eat for lunch or dinner, and I mean really quick, then Chicken Sausage is always the way to go. This Air Fryer Chicken Sausage is not only simple to make, but it cooks perfectly in the air fryer!

Just grab your favorite precooked chicken sausage links and an Air Fryer and in just a couple of minutes you will have perfectly browned chicken sausage that you can serve with a simple pasta salad, baked beans or your favorite side dish.

And if you love eating chicken sausage with vegetables as a meal, then definitely try this Chicken Sausage Stir-Fry recipe or this Sheet Pan Chicken Sausage, Brussels Sprouts and Potato recipe!

DIFFERENT CHICKEN SAUSAGE BRANDS

There are lots of different chicken sausage brands and flavors that you can find in most stores. Some of the more popular ones are:

  • Aidell’s Chicken & Apple Sausage (We love this one!) or any of the Aidell’s flavors
  • Al Fresco Chicken Sausage
  • Trader Joe’s Chicken Sausage
  • Applegate Chicken Sausage
  • Costco brand Chicken Sausage

Whichever one you choose, just make sure they are labeled fully cooked chicken sausage.

HOW TO COOK CHICKEN SAUSAGE IN THE AIR FRYER

The Air Fryer is probably the easiest and quickest way to cook chicken sausage. Here’s a quick overview:

Remove the chicken sausage links from the package, add them to the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes. Half-way through the cook time, flip the chicken sausages over then finish cooking.

I like my chicken sausage to be more brown with a few crispy edges, but if you prefer just a light golden brown color you can lower the cook time to just 8 minutes or lower the cooking temperature by 10 degrees.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHICH AIR FRYER SHOULD YOU USE

You can cook chicken sausage in several different types of air fryers. I have the Aukey Home Air Fryer and I love it. But you can also use the Nuwave, Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex or any air fryer brand.

WHAT IS THE PROPER TEMPERATURE FOR CHICKEN SAUSAGE

You want to make sure the cooked chicken sausage reads at least 165°F with a meat thermometer when it’s done.

IS CHICKEN SAUSAGE ALREADY FULLY COOKED?

Most chicken sausage links that you purchase in a grocery store do come fully cooked (precooked) which makes this a great option for a quick & easy lunch or dinner recipe!

If you happen to buy uncooked/raw chicken sausage links just know those will need to be cooked all the way through and will take a lot longer to cook. These would be a better option for outdoor grilling.

IS CHICKEN SAUSAGE HEALTHY?

Chicken sausage is definitely a healthier option compared to red meat or pork sausages. However you want to be careful when it comes to the brand that you choose. Look for ones that are minimally processed and have little or no added sugars or nitrates.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS
